Curating Your Social Media Story Workshop

Our world today is heavily saturated with social media so much so, that it is no longer a “hype" but an integral part of our society. Our resumes have become our Instagram feeds, our portfolios our websites and our snail mail is now facebook messaging. Within this social media day and age, we are constantly being bombarded with ads and messages that are all targeting the same superficial conversations. Within these spaces, Arielle has explored how to venture past the norm of conversations taking place and how to bring raw, real life moments back into the social media context. There are MANY social media workshops out there that will tell you when to post, how to post but not always WHAT to post and the intention BEHIND the post.
Not only will we explore practical social media tools and techniques but most importantly, we will be exploring the values of your brand or business and the importance of the conversations taking place within social media.
Sure, we’ll talk abut logistics but most importantly we’ll talk about the heart behind posts and the overall mission and goals of your brand or business.

Each Thursday throughout the school year, the entire campus community gathers for Chapel to worship God together, experience His grace and be challenged toward greater discipleship. It seeks to inspire students in their Christian faith, and aids in building a sense of community on campus. Each week, we strive to display the relevance of the Gospel by bringing the Word of God to life. We also seek to communicate the Gospel's diversity through worship and creative expression.

Chapel is held once a week on Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. – 10:20 a.m. in the Pacific Auditorium and is required of all full-time HIU students.

2018 TEDxPasadena: Transform

TED is an acronym for technology, entertainment and design and TEDxPasadena is a local, self-organized, non-profit TED event, that brings people together to share a TED-like experience.

This conference gathers community together for a day of discourse over TEDTalk videos and live speakers. The goal is to spark deep discussion and connection.

Our community has grown to over 5,000 people and more than 1,500 have attended our annual conferences, but more than 2 million curious minds have viewed our 53 TEDx Talks on YouTube!

After building Momentum (2015), and realizing It’s About Time (2016) to Rise (2017), we leveraged an exceptional lineup of speakers who will inspire us to TRANSFORM (2018)!

Sublime joy, wrenching tragedy, an enlightening conversation – these can all transform. And so do words and stories. This year’s event celebrates our ability to transform...from subtle internal shifts to seismic quantifiable ones. We hope you'll join us!

Visit www.tedxpasadena.org for a list of the 2018 TRANSFORM speakers as well as TED Talk videos from TEDxPasadena 2017, 2016 and 2015.

RISE

RISE

RISE is a 2-day conference designed, curated, and produced by Rachel Hollis and the incredible team at Chic Media. For the second year in a row we’re cultivating a space where women from every walk of life can come together to be inspired, supported and enveloped in a community. As always, RISE weekend will be the perfect balance of loving encouragement and straight-up kicking your butt. Expect to be energized and motivated. Expect to cry and laugh and maybe drink too much wine. Expect to reconnect with those dreams and goals you’ve been carrying around for years without any idea of what to do with them. Expect to dream. Expect to be inspired. Expect to RISE.

This year’s theme is ELEVATE. Which means on Day ONE we are going to dig into our past to discover more of what makes you you or what has shaped you and what got you here today. Day TWO will be about bringing what you learned on DAY ONE and fully engaging and applying that to your goals for the future. 700+ women just like you, who come from a variety of practices and professions. Who should attend? The dreamer, the creative, the mom, the CEO, the inspired. All of it, all of you. Put your ideas into action. Get inspiration from incredible speakers. Connect with other women in Los Angeles (and beyond). Understand your intentions + walk away with tangible tools to be a better version of you.

Advancing Women in Leadership Conference

  • Azusa Pacific University Felix Event Center (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

In partnership with the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities (CCCU), the one-day Advancing Women in Leadership conference will be held on Azusa Pacific University’s campus in Azusa, California.

2018 ADVANCING WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP THEME: PURPOSE

Who: The conference is designed for women of all ages, stages of life, and professional development. Men are also highly encouraged to attend and learn about leadership trends, research models, issues, and opportunities addressing gender balance in leadership structures. Faculty, staff, and students (undergraduate and graduate) who aspire to higher levels of influence and professional development are the key audience for the conference.

What: Participants will learn from top female leaders in the field of higher education and receive encouragement, direction, support and education related to advancing careers, personal influence, professionalism, vocational discernment, and leadership gravitas. Further, attendees have the opportunity to network with CCCU colleagues.

Why: According to a 2016 report[1], women are entering institutions of higher education at a higher rate than men, with women also earning more than 50% of all bachelor’s master’s degrees, and doctoral degrees. Yet, even with these increasing figures, the faculty and senior administration of many colleges and universities fall short of a healthy gender balance representation. The Advancing Women in Leadership conference will address these challenges and opportunities.

Sponsorship opportunities are available. If you are interested in more information on promoting your organization to more than 1,000 attendees, please email conferencecommittee@apu.edu.

We all need a moment between moments!

SPOILER ALERT: A GOOD ARTIST IS A GREAT ENTREPRENEUR

https-2F2Fcdn.evbuc_.com2Fimages2F367270612F1827260540412F12Foriginal.jpg

Spend the afternoon with local artist and entrepreneur, Katrina Frye, as she uses one her clients, Arielle Estoria, as a case study proving “A Good Artist is a Great Entrepreneur”. After reflecting on this case study Katrina will walk us through tools and tricks she has learned while working in the Arts for the last ten years. Combined with her Masters degree in Arts Management, Katrina has found a language between Arts and Business, where entrepreneurship flourishes. Whether you are an artist, small business owner, creative, entrepreneur, or arts funders/provider we want to invite you be a part of this emerging, though provoking, and critical conversation.

Huge thanks for our host The Armory Center for Arts, who’s mission is to “build on the power of art to transform lives and communities through creating, teaching and presenting the arts”.

Free 90 min parking can be found at the public lot just 100 feet away (171 N Raymond Ave, Pasadena, CA 91103).

Katrina Frye is the founder of Mischief Managed, an artist consulting company working with artists of all mediums to get their career’s off the ground and money in their bank accounts. She has been working in arts administration and management for 10 years and has received her masters degree in Arts Management from the Claremont Graduate University. She strongly believes that artists are the architects of culture and transcribers of history. Follow her artists and insights @mischief_arts or mischiefmanaged.info
